Members of the Committee are voted in every year at the AGM and can serve for up to 3 years. It is a great way of understanding what makes the club work and we encourage all members to take a turn at being a committee member.
Lisa Supper – Chair

I have been a member of the rowing club since 2022. I had never rowed before and was quite nervous to have a go. I needn’t have worried, as everyone was very supportive, and I soon picked up the basics. After a while, I decided to join in with the regattas, and I had a great time practising for these, alongside enjoying social rows. I am very pleased I took those first steps to join the club. When I am not rowing, I am a tutor for the Open University, and I am a mum to three older teenage girls.
Frank Burstow- Vice Chair

On joining I found club members to be very welcoming, inclusive and a good mix of ages.
What also appealed to me was that the sport is very reliant on teamwork but at the same time you can set your own level of involvement.
What was also a complete revelation was that by joining the club one becomes part of an international coastal rowing community.
Dave Polson – Treasurer

I’ve always loved been in or on the water, built my first canoe in my early teens and continued with wind surfing and boating. Now retired after working for the same company for 38 years, lived and worked in many countries from the Far East, Middle East and North America.
Lindsay Wallace – Secretary

I joined the rowing club when I moved permanently to Lochalsh in Autumn 2025. I had never rowed before but it was easy to get involved and develop new skills. As well as the enjoyment of being out on the water throughout the year, it has been a great way to meet new people from all parts of the local community and everyone is welcoming and friendly. When not rowing, I am out hiking, cycling, kayaking or wild swimming as much as the weather allows and I have always got a craft project on the go too.
Rebecca Madlener – Row Organiser

I joined the club in March 2025 having never rowed and only spent very little time away from solid ground before. Everyone was very supportive and I soon picked up the rowing basics. Being out on the water is a great way to be active, meet people and enjoy the gorgeous landscape from a different perspective. When I’m not rowing I’m usually either out walking or home crocheting.
Christine Finlay – Committee Member

I joined the club in 2023 after a ‘taster’ morning. Absolutely love being out on the water despite not having rowed before. Now take part in regattas with some others in the club too which are great fun. Everyone is so friendly and helpful which makes the rowing (and all other things associated with club ) more enjoyable. I work as a nurse (semi retired), I am married with a cat and 2 guinea pigs. I also love walking & climbing hills.
Gill Morgan – Committee Member

I’ve been a member of the rowing club since 2021. Having never rowed before it’s a wonderful way of keeping fit and getting to see the area from a different perspective. I’m married and when I’m not rowing I can be found walking Ted the cairn terrier, reading or wild swimming.
Lesley Young – Committee Member

In May 2022, I took the plunge and joined the club, even though I had no prior experience on the water. I had been searching for an adventurous summer activity, and it turned out to be an incredible season! I’ve come to love both the social rows and the thrill of the regattas, and I’ve enjoyed meeting so many new people along the way.
